Budget Hotels in Atlantic City
Atlantic City, New Jersey has been a popular beach destination since 1854 when the first train system linked the marshy area to Philadelphia. The city is bordered by the Atlantic Ocean and is surrounded by marsh. In 1974, casino gambling was approved for the city and today there are eleven working casinos and four more in the works and even more budget hotels in Atlantic City. The boardwalk once stretched for seven miles, after a hurricane took part of it out, it was refurbished and is still the longest boardwalk in the world at a little over four miles long. It's no doubt that anyone visiting this city will be able to find a place stay, as it is still considered a hot spot for gambling and fun on the east coast.
Many of the most popular hotels in the area are casino resorts. If you are traveling on a budget, or perhaps you want to save your bucks for the slots, a casino may not be the best choice of accommodations. Anything on the boardwalk will likely have high rates so its smart to look a little further than the ever so popular boardwalk. Outlying areas such as Ocean City, Brigantine, Pleasantville, and Ventnor City are places worth checking into. Ocean City is located at the tail end of the boardwalk, making it a short distance from the hot spots of Atlantic City. Ocean City, along with Ventnor City and Brigantine are beach side towns while Pleasantville is inland to the west. The lowest rates at popular chain hotels and inns will likely be found in Pleasantville. However, if you prefer to enjoy your beach destination vacation on the beach, it isn't impossible to find a hotel with low rates.
All the hotels in Atlantic City have constant fluctuating prices and its difficult to say what is budget and what is not. The prices go up on summer weekends and sky rocket during conventions and other popular events. It's smart to research any hotel options well before visiting and keeping a eye on prices, booking when the rates are in your price range.
For suggestions, check out the following: Atlantic City, Days Inn on the Boardwalk has some ocean front rooms and moderate rates; Comfort Inn Boardwalk, also in Atlantic City offers moderate to low rates and each room comes with a Jacuzzi, it is located off the boardwalk, near the beach; Ocean City, Ocean Manor Seaside Inns typically has low rates and a 10/10 hotel rating; Pleasantville, Comfort Inn Victorian near the airport, five miles from boardwalk, affordable rates.
