Budget Hotels in Detroit
Long been known as the land of fast cars, Motown, and of course hockey, is Detroit, Michigan. The city stretches for miles with a street layout emulating wagon wheels. The city hosts business travelers, hockey fans, and those who want a quick visit to Canada. With the Ambassador Bridge and Windsor Tunnel stretching it's way to Windsor, Ontario many visitors go to Detroit for the sole purpose of a Canadian doctor's appointment and cheap prescriptions.
In such a large city with travelers often visiting for non vacation reasons, it's inevitable that the quest for budget hotels will present itself. However, in a city with a reputation such as that of Detroit, its good to keep in mind that its important not to sacrifice your safety to save a few extra dollars. While this article will focus on budget travel, it will also focus on the safer sides of town with moderate prices, not necessarily those cheapest.
Many business travelers prefer to stay in Southfield or nearby Troy. It is obvious that the hotels in the area nearest the airport would likely be the cheapest, however they tend to be less safe and further from meetings and other business related activities. With a little searching it is possible to find a hotel with discounted business suites in Southfield or Troy.
If business is not your purpose of travel, accommodations closer to the river are a good bet. Most of Detroit's night life is not actually located in Detroit, but in Windsor, Ontario. There are also some casinos and therefore hotels located on Detroit's side of the river.
For suggestions, one may choose to look into the following hotels. In Southfield you can find Days Inn and Comfort Suites. These hotels are often a more affordable way to go without loosing out on internet connections and business suites. In Windsor you can stay at casinos, however we can assume they may not be the most cost effective way to travel. The Cadillac Motel is also located in Windsor with moderate rates. Windsor also a variety of other hotels just as Detroit.
